A copper alloy buckle plate dating to the period c AD 1250-1400. The buckle plate is incomplete as the loops to contain the buckle are missing. The buckle plate is rectangular in shape with the incomplete buckle bar loops indented at one short end and two rivet holes with the remnants of iron nails at the other end. The plate is decorated with raised relief and the design appears to be of a mythological beast or bird. The back of the plate is undecorated. The patina is a mid green with the raised relief a reddish brown. There is evidence of iron corrosion close to the rivet holes.
