A lead-alloy and iron Tudor dress hook dating from the post-medieval period, which is c. AD1500-1700. The object is decorated with three domed bosses separated by bars radiating from a central smaller domed boss.
At the rear of the object is an oval sectioned bar beneath which is a casting seem. Projecting from the rear of the object is a length of iron covered in lead which would probably have extended to form the hook. The object has a light white patina.
An example of a similar lead alloy dress hook is (LANCUM-D917B9) https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/661215 and (SWYOR-3260C8) https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/648416. The dress hooks may have been designed to imitate filigree decorated silver gilt examples. Similar copper alloy examples can be found in Read, (2008), p75-76 which have been classified as early Post-Medieval, Class D, Type 6.
