An incomplete tile dating to the Late Roman period. It is roughly triangular in shape and has a light orange brown colouring with a dark grey reduction layer running through the centre. On one side in the bottom right hand corner is the impression from a dog's paw.
The tile was located in the same area as the 3rd century Roman fort of Othona at Bradwell-on-Sea, which was constructed around the time of the Carausian Revolt (AD286-296). Based on this association the tile likely dates to the late 3rd to 4th century,
The tile is 99.16g, 77.66mm length, 39.51mm width, 19.34mm thickness
