A gold Medieval finger ring dating from AD 1150 - 1300. The hoop is plain, D-shaped in section and there are no makers' marks or hall marks. The bezel is hexagonal in plan, in profile and in section, measuring 8.1mm long, 7mm wide and 3.5mm thick. It contains a gem, rock crystal or glass setting which is clear and has a domed top. The gem has slipped in the setting, or is a replacement, and is deep within the hexagonal opening rather than sitting proud. There is asome slight damage to the edges of the bezel. Overall the ring has an external diameter of 20.3mm, internal diameter of 18.2mm and weighs 1.4g.
