An incomplete sheet copper alloy buckle plate, of Medieval dating (AD 1350 to AD 1450).

Approximately 90% of the buckle plate is present, with one of the strap bar loops being incomplete.

The buckle plate has been made from a piece of sheet copper alloy metal, folded in half, around the strap bar. A sub rectangular pin slot has been cut at one end, and it has been narrowed to fit the frame. The other end of the front plate has two triangular notches removed as decoration. The back plate has a straight edge. No other forms of decoration are present on the front or back plates. A circular sectioned rivet is present at the strap end of the buckle plate, and would have secured the front and back plates together. It has a diameter of 2.4 mm.

The buckle plate measures 21.7 mm in length, 8.2 mm wide and 3.3 mm thick. The metal is 0.6 mm thick. It weighs 1.3 g.

The buckle plate is a dark green colour, with an even surface patina.
