A complete copper alloy strap loop, of medieval dating (c. AD 1250 to c. AD 1400).
The fitting is single looped and sub-oval, with an off-set straight attachment bar and a pair of opposed internal trianglar projections which would have secured the strap in place whilst allowing the fitting to slide up and down the strap.
The strap fitting measures 16.9 mm in length, 18.9 mm wide and 2.5 mm thick. It weighs 1.6 g.
The strap fitting is a mid brown colour, with an even surface patina.
A very similar example is illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (1991, page 234; Figure 1262), which was recovered from a context dating from 1350 to 1400. Several similar examples have been recorded on the PAS database, including: SUR-8F0FB8; HAMP-B4E044 and WMID-8B6705.
