An almost complete Medieval copper-alloy three piece composite strap-end (c. 1250-c. 1450).

This strap-end has two separate sheet plates with a forked spacer between them. The sides of the plates taper in plan from the attachment end towards a terminal blunt point. At the centre, close to the terminal end, there is a copper-alloy rivet, circular in cross-section. The heads of this rivet are flush with the plates. There are two similar rivets at the attachment end, one at each corner.

This strap-end has a green patina and the edges are missing around the terminal end.

Length: 17.7mm; width: 13.8mm; thickness: 2.4mm. Weight: 2.19g.

Similar strap-ends have been published (Egan and Pritchard 1991: 142, fig. 93).
