A silver halfgroat from Elizabeth I (AD1558-1603), dating to AD1594-1596, Third issue. Obverse shows bust of Elizabeth I facing to the left. Inscription reads [E D G R] OSA SINE [SP] INA translates to 'Elizabeth by the Grace of God a rose without a thorn'. Reverse shows the English shield divided into four quadrants by a long cross.The inscription reads [CIVITAS] LONDON, meaning 'City of London'. Woolpack initial mark on both sides.
