The base of a Roman black burnished vessel, probably a pedestal beaker, dating 1st-3rd century AD. The object is formed of a dark grey clay with coarse grainy inclusions. The base is circular with one side flat and the other concave. The concave side appears to have been formed by a thumb impression. The break is just before the body of the vessel, with the edges very worn.
