An incomplete copper-alloy Post-Medieval hooked tag of Read's Class E Type 3. It is missing most of the hoos, and one side of the plate due to old breaks. The plate is oval in form with openwork decoration, from the top of which extends a trapezoidal sewing lug. At the centre of the plate is a domed boss that appears to have decoration of uncertain form, possibly a flower or similar, within a circular border. This is surrounded by openwork decoration perhaps in the form of a seven pointed star that produces small knops at each point of the star. At the base of the plate is a small rectangular collar from which the now missing hook would have extended. The entire object measures 29.44mm in length, 18.33mm in width, 2.53mm in thickness, and 2.49g in weight.
This is a hooked tag of Post-Medieval date. It falls into Read's Early Post-Medieval Class E Type 3 hooked tags, with similar parallels published by him (Read, 2008: pp. 100-103). These suggest a probable 16th-17th cntury AD date for the current example.
