A copper-alloy buckle of Medieval date. It is as Meols type 8, with oval frame that has an offset and narrowed rectangular bar, and expanded outer edge. The outer edge has four oval shaped lobes, the outer two projecting further than the central two, all separated by deep transverse grooves. Hinging around the bar is a copper-alloy wire pin that has a small flattened sheet of copper-alloy attached to it that is likely to have functioned as a simple buckle plate, its precise form uncertain due to old breaks. The entire object measures 22.57mm in width, 16.64mm in length, 2.62mm in thickness, and 2.77g in weight.
This is a buckle frame of Medieval date. It is similar to examples from London (e.g. Egan and Pritchard, 1991: no. 302) and is of probable 14th century AD date.
