A complete and corroded post-Medieval copper-alloy mount in the form of an acorn (c. 1600-c. 1700).
The mount is convex at the front and flat at the rear. At the front it has a pair of parallel horizontal grooves dividing the fruit from the cupola. There is a 'stalk' at the bottom. At the rear there are two tapering spikes, one at each end. Both are circular in cross-section.
The front is reddish brown and the rear largely has a matt green patina. At the front there are traces of a shiny green patina. There is no indication of any surface treatment.
Height: 31.3mm; width: 11.0mm; thickness: 1.8mm; thickness including spikes: 5.9mm. Weight: 2.19g.
