Medieval or post medieval copper alloy mount/ fitting, 36mm long, 14mm wide and 2mm thick with a weight of 6.49grams. The object is roughly triangular in form and rectangular in cross section with a curved hook like projection at its narrow edge.
The object is in the form of a 'dragon' like beast with a flat triangular body and D cross sectioned 'arms' extending down each side. It is decorated in its centre with a triangular shaped panel with 'scale' like curved, incised lines. This terminates in a point with a projecting collared knop. At each side of this the 'arms', which terminate alongside the central knop, have a set of diagonal incised lines running their length. Above the centre is a D cross-sectioned curved neck, terminating in a serpent like head. The neck is decorated with a series of horizontal incised lines at the front and the rest is picked out in curved 'scales'. At the back of the neck is a crescent shaped projection , which appears to be a broken suspension loop. The remainder of the revrse is plain and flat. The object has patches of gilding, largely over its front and 'neck'.
The object has been compared to medieval objects, such as, NMS-4B6B11 and NMS-4B6B11, but its more probably an unusual harness pendant as its similar to SWYOR-DA7B83 .
