A sherd of a Medieval ceramic vessel dating from AD 1100 - 1500. The fabric is hard, rough and has a fine texture. It is light grey with a pale orange outer face, with dark grey on the very surface. It has frequent, well sorted grit, black and quartz inclusions. There are traces of glaze which appears a purple brown colour on the outer face. Possible Coal Measures Purple pottery. The wall sherd is 40.6mm tall, 46.8mm wide and 8.6mm thick. 17.84g.
