An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy double-looped shoe or knee buckle (c. 1690-c. 1720).

The pin, chape and spindle are missing.

This buckle frame is rectangular in plan, convex at the front and rear. In side profile each end curves downwards from the centre. At the centre there are drilled holes for a separate iron spindle, fragments of which survive in each hole. At the front it has a grooved border. Each outer edge is similar and is scalloped/cusped.

This frame has a shiny silvery green patina.

Length: 44.2mm; width: 30.4mm; thickness at centre: 4.6mm. Weight: 12.08g.
