Medieval (late 12th to early 13th century) buckle frame: The copper alloy frame is oval with a narrowed and off-set strap bar. The remainder of the frame expands in width to the apex as well as depth with moulded decoration. This decoration consists of a crescentic frame with an integral crescentic skirt below, which is perforated with six circular voids. The upper crescent has a central notch with a high-relief moulded knop either side of the notch. On the outer edges, next to these knops is a low-relief conical indentation transected by a low-relief, obliquely angled platform. The underside of the buckle frame is obliquely angled and is slightly curvaceous. The pin is missing. The frame is slightly abraded and has, otherwise, a well developed mid green/grey coloured patina. It measures 18.23mm long, 24.55mm wide, 8.81mm thick and weighs 5.29g.

A very similar example is on the PAS database, NMS-2407F3, and this has been described as having moulded beast heads either side of the strap bar. This record quotes a similar example in Zarnecki et al, (1984), No. 256, from Ringstead, Norfolk. Others on the PAS database include KENT-BF2C37, SOMDOR-861648, BUC-309C83, HAMP-1F10A7, SF-9177A4, NARC-70E046, DENO-9A9831, Another example on the PAS database, NMS-9BBAE2, is very similar, but without the skirt and moulded beasts.
