Lead spindle whorl. Cast whorl with a central slightly tapered moulded aperture of diameter 10-11.5mm, cylindrical with a slightly curved base placing this between Walton Rogers forms A1 and B. Patinated overall. The aperture size may suggest an Anglo-Scandinavian date while the mass indicates a primary use for plying cord. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 850-1000.
