A corroded, cast iron cannon ball for a falcon cannon, probably dating from the early Post-Medieval period, AD 1500 - 1700. It is 58mm in diameter (2.3 inches) and weighs 694gm (2.3pounds). It should be noted that this object could also be a modern mill or industrial process such as a bearing or crushing ball from a large piece of machinery. The Falcon cannon came into use during the latter half of the 15th Century and were mounted on four wheels to make it more mobile, they were widely used during the Civil War. Compare YORYM-6CA699.
