A complete copper alloy terret ring dating to the 1st or 2nd century AD.
The object comprises of two parts, the first is the sub-circular loop which would have held the reins. This section is 35.91 mm wide, 7.35 mm thick and the hole has a diameter of 21.94 mm. The second part of the object is a sub-rectangular projection to fit onto a strap. This has a width of 27.04 mm, thickness of 5.25 mm and the hole through this section is 15.02 mm long and 4.66 mm wide.
The object is simple and undecorated with a smooth patina which is broken in areas by some light green more active corrosion.
