A copper alloy Post Medieval hooked belt mount dating from the Post medieval period, abou AD 1500-1700. The mount has an ovoid plate, shallowly convex, with a rounded knop at the attachment end, and at the other end, an inward-projecting hook extends and curves back to touch the plate. The hook retains a separate copper alloy loop (diameter c.13mm). A rough and straight edge on the loop suggests it was part of a larger plate, perhaps a scabbard plate. There are two rivet holes in the centre towards the attachment end of the plate, each containing the residue of iron rivets. The metal has an uneven dark brown patina, with iron staining and areas of green patina. The reverse is concave.
The fitting is 42.1mm long, 13.1mm wide and 7.42mm thick. With the attached loop it is 48.2mm long and weighs 6.84g.
A very similar hooked belt mount is HAMP-041426 which cites an example illustrated in Read (2008), p.221, no.796. This is thought to be a belt-mount and is dated to the 16th or 17th Century.
