A copper alloy Knife end cap dating from the Post Medieval period, about AD 1500 - 1650. The cap is a rounded octagon with a flat top which is inscribed with initials, probably "RB" within a line border. The rest of the cap is in baluster form with a narrow waist decorated with projecting collars. The base matches in thickness to the top but is more oval than the octangonal top. There is a slot across the base to accomodate the end of the knife tang. The end stop is corroded and has a dark grey patina with patches of green corrosion. It is 17.6mm long, 9.3mm wide and 8.6mm thick. 5.43g. Compare LIN-0F1397 and LVPL-081291 on the database.
