An incomplete iron object, possibly a key or a handle from a vessel. The item has a swollen shank measuring 101mm in length, and tapering from 13mm x 12mm in section in the middle to circa 9mm x 8mm at either end. One end appears to be incomplete; the other has two 90 degree turns - upwards and then outwards. The upwards part of the shank is rectangular in section and tapers from 1mm in width to circa 8mm in width. In thickness it is circa 7mm. The outwards 90 degree turn is offset from the shank. This stretch of the item is circular in section, and broken shortly after. It is possible that the other end of the item was similarly formed.
