Medieval or Post Medieval (14th to mid 19th century) possibly vessel foot: The copper alloy possible foot is sub-square at the base with slightly convex edges and base surface. The upper surface has angular, concave faces which taper slightly to a broken edge. The break is not too recent. The tapering is slightly off-set. The surface has a mottled mid green patina. It measures 21.56mm long, 19.9mm wide, 13.4mm tall and weighs 23.52g.
A comparison for this artefact cannot be found, but the condition and style probably suggest a late Medieval or Post Medieval date. It may be a foot of a vessel, possibly a tableware vessel rather than a cooking vessel. Another option is it may be a fragment of a barrel tap, the heel behind the handle, but it seems too large.
