An early post-medieval copper alloy decorative hinge fitting, possibly from a box or a book clasp, dating to the 16th or 17th century. It consists of an openwork plate with a hinge at one end formed by two strips of metal curled around a piece of copper wire, the exposed part of which is missing. The plate is roughly triangular in shape consisting of a heart-shaped openwork design extending into a fleur-de-lis terminal, with a smaller fleur-de-lis and bifurcated decoration within the heart. To the reverse two bent copper alloy rivets project below the rolls of the hinge and a further rivet projects from the reverse of the terminal.

The fitting is 30.8mm long, a maximum of 17.85mm wide and 4.95mm thick. It weighs 1.59.
