An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch dating the the period circa AD. 50-150. One wing and the pin are missing. The brooch measures 41.22 mm in length, 19.88 mm in maximum width, 4.53mm in minimum width and weighs 6.21 grams.
The head exhibits cylindrical and undecorated wings, one of which is partly missing. The wings are divided by a central pin slot for the hinged pin (now missing). The bow tapers from 8.5 mm to 3.75 mm, it is oval in cross section.
The upper bow features an oval projection with a central circular projecting knop of 15.75 mm in length and 5.52 mm in width flanked by two circular recesses which would have held enamel. The lower bow is decorated with three vertical incisions with sixteen transverse incisions to form chevrons.
The catch plate is complete and is triangular. The curl of the catch plate survives.
