A complete Post-Medieval silver mount possibly dating to AD 1500-1600. The mount is oval shape and can be divided into two halves; the upper part is decorated with two scallop shells, with the rounded outer edges of the shells creating the outer edge of the mount. A slight groove divides the shells.
The lower half is undecorated and flat, with a circular perforation. A small step marks the division between the two half of the mount. The reverse part is undecorated and flat with two integral rivets that extend on either side of the perforation.
The mount measures 13.05mm in length, 14.36mm in width and 1.33mm in thick, the perforation diameter is 3.83mm. The mount weights 2.37g.
