Incomplete cast copper alloy double loop buckle frame drilled for a separate spindle with the detached remains of the iron spindle and the copper alloy unrecessed plate. The buckle frame is sub-annular in plan and D-shaped in cross section with an internally bevelled edge from the base. The frame is undecorated and there are patches of tinning on the surface and iron corrosion product at each spindle hole.
Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar spectacle buckle on page 49, no.283, which is dated from c.1650-1720.
