A complete copper alloy stylus of uncertain Roman to Post-Medieval date. The stylus is comprised of a single piece of metal with one pointed spatulate, rectangular sectioned terminal which tapers to a circular sectioned point at the opposite terminal. The object is undecorated.
The metal has a dark brown patina and is worn. The stylus is 78.5mm long, 4.5mm wide, 3.7mm thick and weighs 4.5g.
Stylus' of this type are known to have been in use from the Roman to post-medieval periods and due to a lack of contextual evidence and any diagnostic features it is not possible to date this object any more closely.
