Half of a copper alloy Post Medieval buckle, similar to the one in Whiteheads Buckles page 68 item 427. The design may be of a human face at the apex the loop. There is also moulded scrollwork on the frame and part of a possible trilobed knop at the end of the (missing) bar. It probably dates from AD 1500 -1700. A close paralle has not yet been found.

Length 50mm, 30.30mm wide, 4.45mm thick, weighs 11.8gms
