Object type certainty: Certain

An incomplete copper alloy vessel of medieval to post-medieval date. The fragment is part of the leg of a cooking vessel such as a cauldron. The leg is roughly rectangular with a D-shaped section and expands outward to the top where it would have joined with the vessel proper. Both the upper and lower terminals are broken and worn. The object appears undecorated.

The metal has a dark green patina and is worn. The object is 67.8mm long, 34.7mm 12.4mm thick and weighs 95g.

While it is not possible to allocate this fragment to a specific type it is likely to be from a large cooking vessel and dates from c.AD 1100 to c.AD 1850 when the use of cast iron cooking vessels predominates.
