Flaked flint axe, roughly flaked from a poor quality, opaque, mixed grey flint. Cortex covers part of one surface surface and full recortication has occured. Lozenge section formed by coarse flaking supplimented by battering. Cutting edge formed by the removal of large, semi-abrupt flakes. The object narrows around its mid-point to produce a 'waist'. This object lacks the characteristic 'tranchet' sharpening but a Mesolithic date is likely. Length 127mm, Width 51mm, Thickness 48mm, Mass 292.0g.
