A complete copper alloy annular brooch of medieval date, circa AD 1150 - 1450. The brooch is circular in plan and rectangular in section with bevelled sides. A recess for the pin is present though the pin itself no longer remains. The upper surface of the brooch is decorated with an elaborate foliate style design much of which retains gilding. The reverse is flat and undecorated though also retains gilding.
The metal has a mid-greenish patina and is worn. The brooch is 31.9mm in diameter, 4.2mm wide, 1.8mm thick and weighs 3.7g.
