Copper alloy strap end. Small tongue-shaped strap end with a central longitudinal ridge , a split end, and with two rivets of diameter 1.8mm and length 3.5mm passing through its inner end, Thomas Class E Type 3. There are traces of diagonal or herringbone relief decoration to either side of the central ridge. The distribution of the type centres on the Danelaw and the Irish Sea region, which is of interest given the position of Lindsey under the Viking 'kingdom' of York and Dublin. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 850-1000.
