A complete copper alloy double looped buckle frame, of Late Medieval dating (AD 1350 to AD 1650).

The buckle frame has two sub oval loops, with a recessed central bar. The outer loops are expanded, with an bevelled edge. Slight traces of tinning are present on the front of the buckle frame. The reverse of the buckle frame is undecorated.

The buckle frame measures 35.1 mm in length, 29.2 mm wide and 3.2 mm thick. It weighs 6.0 g.

The buckle frame is a mid green colour, with an even surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in a loss of some of the original surface detail.

A similar buckle frame has been recorded as no 290 by Whitehead (1996, p 53) and has been dated to c. AD 1350 to c. AD 1650.
