A Post Medieval lead alloy fragment of a ceiling mount in the shape of a quatrefoil dating AD1500-1550. The mount has been cast in the form of a quatrefoil in high relief; the back is flat. There is a central rounded pellet and raised ridges along the centre of each petal. The edges of the petals are also raised. There are no traces of gilding visible. On the reverse there are wide grooves that extend across the length and width. The remains of iron survive within these grooves.

Egan illustrates a ceiling mount in the form of a wavy star (2005:69-70 no. 309) which he dates 1500-1550 based on ceramic dating of context. Egan notes that similar mounts have been found at Clarendon Palace, Wiltshire, Eltham Palace, Kent and at the sites of several other prestigious houses. They were intended to decorate ceilings and similar. Other ceiling mounts are recorded please see: LON-859FD2, LON-BEF003, LON-09E3C3.

Dimensions: length: 32.47mm; width: 32.12mm; thickness: 14.19mm; weight: 32.05g.
