A copper alloy harness pendant suspension mount of Medieval date. The mount has a sub-oval, almost heart-shaped, domed strap attachment, with two lobed projections at either side. Projecting from the rear is an integral circular sectioned rivet or lug which tapers to a squared off point. Two pierced suspension loops suspend from the base of the object.
The outer face of the mount is decorated with a central incised fleur-de-lis above which are to either side are three curved grooves within a curved border. A transverse ridge between the body of the object and the suspension loops is decorated with small linear grooves. The remains of gilding are visible on the outer face.
Griffiths (1986:1, 4, no.21b) illustrates a similar example and suggest most date to the 13th to 14th centuries AD. See SOM-EED1C0 on this database for an example complete with the pendant.
