A copper alloy fragment of a mount of Post-Medieval date. The object is of thin section and would originally have been flat. The object consists of a rectangular flattened central bar which divides at the top into two bi-lobed projections. Below is a curved transverse bar which sits above the fattened central bar. The object has a dark brown pitted surface.
A similar example recorded on the database can be found at BH-A7A451 and has been described as a mount dating from AD 1500-1600. Read illustrates a similar artefact, which he describes as a sword-belt mount of possible 16th century date (2001; pp. 43, no. 371) however this differs significantly at the base.
