Iron and lead nail fragment. Wrought iron nail with the angled stub of a tapered shank protruding from its round lead-covered head. This treatment was probably intended to retard corrosion of the nail and suggests its placement in an exposed position, perhaps securing roofing or flashing. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1600-1800.
