A complete Post-Medieval or modern silver and glass cuff link pair (c. 1700-c. 1800). Each stud has a convex silver back and its hollow front forms a cell that contains a clear glass setting which is faceted overall. The upper sides of the back slope inwards to secure the setting within the cell. Around this sloping element are eight evenly spaced decorative claw protrusions which help to secure the glass in place. Below this are two linear grooves as decoration. A separate soldered silver wire loop at the back is circular in cross-section, as is the separate circular link section which is larger than the loops. The silver has only very slight wear. The cut of the glass (Round cut with 8 star facets) suggests it is probably no earlier than 19th century. There are very similar cuff links recorded on this database under IOW-BD5D62 and LANCUM-4155E6. The length is 24mm, the width is 10mm, and the weight 3.73g.
