A modern imitation of a medieval silver penny of William I (1066-1089), Pax type (North 858-50). The reverse inscription reads STAMFORD CASTLE rather than giiving a mint and moneyer and the weight is too high for an official, medieval issue. It can probably be considered a tourist/re-enactment piece of the late 20th-early 21st century

Obverse description: Facing bust with sceptre right.

Obverse inscription: [GVLI]ELM REX

Reverse description: Short cross with circled letter in each angle, probably +PAX

Reverse inscription: +STAMFORD CASTLE

Diameter: 19.9mm, Weight: 1.67gms, die axis: 3
