A complete post medieval silver thimble, now slightly distorted and damaged. The thimble comprises three parts: the dome, the sides, and a separate rim which is now sprung open. The sides bear a heart-shaped cartouche framed by pellets which contains the inscribed owner's initials DS in seriffed capitals. The cartouche is accosted by foliate forms on the right and left. Above the cartouche is an oval stamp bearing the initials of the maker IS. The pits on both sides and dome are formed in a grid.
