A post-medieval copper-alloy gilded mount with integral attachment spikes. The plate is shaped into a six-petalled flower with six round petals surrounding a circular centre. Each petal has a central boss raised in low relief surrounded by a raised circle. The central pellet is also surrounded by a circular border, but of pellets. The back is concave. From the back projects two integral circular attachment spikes, one to each side of the cnetre. The spikes tapers evenly towards the tips which end in old breaks. The mount measures 10.0mm by 16.6mm, it is 3.8mm thick excluding the spikes, 8.7mm including them, and weighs 2.58 grams. There are extensive traces of gilding on the front.
SOM-A6F7C4 on this database from West Somerset appears similar but with one rather than two attachment spikes. SUR-890C05 from Surrey is also similar with two spikes and remains of the leather to which it was atatched. The use of integral attachment spikes suggsts a Post Medieval date c. AD 1500-1700.
