Copper alloy medieval book clasp of folded type, Howsam type A.8.1.It is sub-rectangular, ecessed symmetrically from either side at the fold to form a central end loop. There are two rivet holes with copper-alloy rivets still in situ, one in the centre and one close to the open end. There is also a larger circular peg hole towards the folded end. There is evidence of a white metal coating, possibly tinning. Circa 1250-1450 AD.
