A copper alloy English Seated King jetton dating to the period AD 1328 - 1350. Triple stranded cross fleuretty in a 4-arched tressure reverse.
Obverse: Crowned king seated facing on a seat without a back rest, holding a sceptre in his right hand, resting left hand, leafy spray in field to either side.
Reverse: Triple stranded cross fleuretty in a 4-arched tressure.
Part of the flan has been lost to worn breaks
Mitchiner (1988, p.160) discusses the origins of these jettons with the closest numismatic prototypes being the Royal d'or (Masse d'or) issued by Philippe IV de Bel (AD 1285 - 1314) in 1310. These jettons however postdate the introduction if their coin prototypes and were most probably issued during the reign of Philip VI (AD 1328 - 1350).
Similar to Mitchiner, p.160, no.381.
