Roman (1st to 4th century) lead and iron steelyard weight: The cast weight is an asymmetrical bi-conical in profile and has a circular section. The upper apex of the weight has an incomplete iron loop. The surface of the weight is a smooth cream colour. It weighs 357g and is 47.57mm long and 42.09mm in diameter.
Barford, Blockley and Day (1984) illustrate a similar shaped weight dating to the Roman period, as does Allason-Jones and Miket (1984; Nos. 8.46 and 8.47).
