A copper alloy Medieval buckle (Meols Class 8) dating from AD 1250 - 1450. It is an oval frame with a recessed and offset bar, and an expanded outer edge divided into four lobes by the central grooved pin rest and two ridges. There are also incised lines across the edge flanking the ridges and the groove. The outer lobes are angled slightly. The pin and plate is missing. The buckle is 27.9mm wide, 22mm long, 3.4mm thick and 4.77g. See page 84 of Griffiths, Philpott and Egan, 2007.
