A milia button belonging to the Loyal Greenwich (militia) and dating to c1795-C1805. The button has a silver coating and the reverse has no maker's details. The face reads: GR (for George Rex) which appears centrally in script; HONORE ET ARMIS within a crowned belt; LOYAL GREENWICH.

Steve Newman comments:
This militia unit served twice, once from 1798-1801 and then again 1803 -1814. They were a four Company unit 1798-1801 commanded by Major Robert Campbell. Same CO (now a Lieut-Colonel) but with a strength of 600, a full battalion on their second raising.
