An incomplete lead alloy Medieval flat seal matrix probably dating from AD 1200 - 1400. Unfortunately, the matrix is scratched, bent and broken and none of the legend can be read. It was a pointed oval shaped with a central motif (perhaps a cross or fleur) within a plain incised line border surrounded by a legend. The letters look to have been large and crude, but none are legible. The reverse appears to be plain and any handle lug does not survive on this fragment. It is 21.8mm long, 20.1mm wide and 2.7mm thick. 6.15g.
