An incomplete copper alloy strap fitting or belt mount, in the form of a stylised Acorn, of Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1700).

The mount is irregular in shape. The front of the mount is convex, and the reverse concave. It consists of a pointed oval shape, with a hooked extension on the base. The lower half of the mount has a horizontal line, separating the top from the base, and the base section has been cross hatched to resemble an acorn cup. The reverse is undecorated. Two incomplete integrally cast attachment spikes, both with circular sections are present on the reverse of the pointed oval.

It measures 40.7 mm in length, 21.3 mm wide and 6.1 mm thick. It weighs 6.1 grams.

The mount is a mid green colour, with an even surface patina.

The mount is similar to other examples recorded on the PAS database, including WMID-249FA4 and NMS-4A3666, which has identified it as a stylised Acorn, with a hooked stem at the base. Read (2001, 29) has published several examples (#331-4). They are believed to be of Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1700).
