A copper alloy cross-shaped finial of probably Post Medieval date, possibly a mount from a processional cross, censer lid, or even from a piece of furniture. The cruciform terminal has arms which are circular in section and which termiate in a globular sub-spherical knops with a thin collar. The knop at the base of the lower arm has a patinated break t its base showing that it was originally larger and/or was attached to another object. The metal has a well developed grey green patina. It has been surprisingly difficult to find parallels on the database, but objects with some similarity are LON-6B5665, BERK-A538D1, and much more ornate, LIN-714C24. The cross is 38.6mm long, 30.1mm wide and 7.3mm thick at the base. 9.14g. The circular section of the arms suggests a fairly late date, but Medieval is also a possibility, so a range of AD 1300 - 1800 is suggested.
